A quick pick me up.

August is bringing a lot of rain lately, and it has been affecting our mood. The sound of the rain makes you want to stay in bed. But, I want to start this week right. When I was still working in my commissary, my colleague and a good friend of mine offered me a drink. This drink has orange juice and espresso shots over ice. My first response, naturally, was a HARD PASS. It was just weird all together.

A few circles around the sun and now with a more "mature" palette, I've decided to give it a try. The first taste was weird because of the combination of the bitter espresso and sour orange. But I think I balanced it well with a few ice and the sweetness of the dried Ponkan. It brought back memories from my commissary days. OJ Express, Sunrise, Good Morning Vietnam - whatever you want to call it, it's really good. Definitely not your ordinary morning coffee. I bet this will be good during summer, too.

2 shots of espresso (or a strong brewed coffee)

3pcs orange, freshly squeezed (or bottled orange juice)

3pcs VALDE dried Ponkan (for an intense sweet flavor)

ice

Here's to a new day!
